One of the biggest challenges I feel I am faced with, is when I am surrounded by a group of people who are not necessarily on the same journey of faith as mine. Sometimes, people come up to you and ask you trick questions...expecting you to have the answers to...and yet we all know that on our journey of faith we have struggles of our own. The same people that try and put you in this uncomfortable position will then try and ridicule you for not having the answers or admitting to struggling with understanding certain theologies. It’s no use then wasting your time attending mass and lectio divina groups is it?
My prayer to God then turns into a big argument and discussion with Him…help me! Show me how I can get through to these friends…colleagues...at times family…without complicated theological explanations…How do you make someone who is sceptic believe that God- just like the air - is everywhere when they can’t see or feel His presence? After reading a list of books, hearing talks, praying so hard about it…expecting the answer to be something extraordinary… today I know what it is I should do. The answer was simple- live your life showing nothing but love towards others - especially those who we might find it hard to do so with. We must be patient with those who push our buttons...we must be kind with those who are having a rough time…we must not envy but be happy for others achievements...
It is only in this way that we can be truly a witness of God’s love and hope that our actions and way of life stirs up something within those we come in contact with…making them curious to what it is that drives us to act this way. So when we’re faced with a struggle with getting God’s message across...Let us never forget the answer is simple: God is love.
