This week’s Music Monday verse, is taken from the song Highs and Lows by Hillsong Young & Free.
To be honest with you it was extremely difficult to choose only one verse to give particular focus to as I could practically identify myself with every word being sung. However, after listening to the song over and over again and singing (or attempting to) every lyric, I feel that the chosen verse encompasses the message of the whole song.
The title and lyrics of this song speak for themselves. It is a song that the great majority of us can relate to because we are all the time experiencing the highs and lows in our daily lives.
When we are at a high some of us stop to recognise the work of God, we stop to thank Him for His blessings. Sometimes, however, when we have a good streak going on it is very easy to forget God. On the other hand, when we are at a low, we either come closer to God and plead for His help or end up blaming Him for our bad luck, but we don’t forget about Him.
Well, this song speaks about the fact that, unlike us, God is constantly with us. No matter the situation, no matter at what stage we are in our lives, or how or what we’re feeling, whether we’re “dancing on the heights” or “making our beds among the depths”, He is with us through it all, “either way it goes” we can rest assured that God’s love is strong enough to reach us.
This song is a reminder that God is greater than our ups and downs.
